Redwork Goddess
Redwork embroidery framed with traditional boutis

It was a specific piece of Toile de Jouy, the popular traditional French fabric featuring various pastoral and mythical scenes, that was the inspiration for my little redwork embroidered goddess. Boutis, another French tradition, seemed a natural fit to use as a frame.

The embroidery of “the lady in red” was started in 2012 in Montpellier, France and finished in 2022 with the boutis border in Vancouver, Canada.
